Thanks!

To all of our Family, Friends and Prayer Warriors,
I just wanted to take a moment to send you my sincerest of thanks. It has been so amazing to see the people that God has purposely placed into our lives to help us with this call....to realize it, to see it, to believe it and now as we begin... to go through it. This is and will not just be a call that God has placed on our lives, but all of yours as well...each of you has played and will play a major role in spreading the Gospel to the ends of the earth. Whether it be with your support and encouragement or through your prayers. We need your prayers! (If you would like to commit to pray for us, please send me an email or call...we need an army of prayer warriors as we set out on this journey) We love you and appreciate all of you more than you know! God Bless you!
"And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart" Galatians 6:9

Take this job...

Hello All! This is my very first post. Let me introduce myself, my name is Susie. I better be a missionary now, because today was my very last day at work. I have been with ProSys, Inc. since 1993, off and on totaling 7 years. I am leaving behind some great friends and wonderful memories. The company surprised me with my second "going away" party. (This time they told me to stay away...ha!) It was a special time together laughing, eating cake and taking pictures.... and YES I did cry!
To all my friends at ProSys.....I love you all and I will miss you. See you Monday! Ha!

The End of an Era

I grew up on Star Wars. I saw the original at a drive-in theater in Baton Rouge. The theater folded. The heat, humidity, and mosquitos were too much for the concept to catch-on in Louisiana. Tonight at 12:02, an end to the Star Wars story will be told. The old will be linked to the new. I will be there, along with Bro. Robert. Yeah, after Youth Church tonight we are heading to the theater. Why? Because we can!

Like the Star Wars saga, the calling to foreign missions has resurfaced in our lives after 16 years. This time the timing is right! The old calling will be linked with the new vision and bring to a close my life as a Chemical Engineer.

Goodbye Pool Membership

KickOff Party 2004 h

This is the neighborhood pool. We have been members since 1999. We sold our membership yesterday. We didn't even have to list it before we had a buyer. What a blessing!

It's a Small World

Some of our great friends (and RA co-teachers) who moved to Arkansas have been involved in REAP and know both the Weaver and Bush families. They are Tony and Cynthia McCutcheon. They are planning to attend our Appointment Ceremony this fall in Pensacola, FL. What a blessing it is to have such people in our lives.

Bon Voyage :(

Back when the missionary process seemed to be ending in March 2006, Susie and I booked the Penthouse Suite on a cruise to Cozumel called The Music Boat. It was to be our last party with our friends from AudioA, so we went all out (No kids were coming, sorry guys).

The Lord has blessed us with a quicker route to the field. Thank You Lord! One side effect of this is that our Appointment Week is the same week as the cruise. We had to tell the AudioA guys that we would be backing out of the cruise. [Don't everybody feel sorry at once! LOL]

So today is the day, Susie will cancel the reservations, which will cost us the $200 deposit.

In short:
I cannot have DISappointment because of my Appointment! :)

¡Perú, aquí venimos!

The final interview is over. All of you will be delighted to know that we are set to be missionaries in Peru! All that is left is our presentation before the Board on July 19th.

We also met some friends this week who are headed to the same city as we are! We are already forming a bond with them. What a blessing from God!

Interviews are over!

Today we had two group sessions in which we discussed hypothetical situations about missionary life. The discussion went very well.

We also had our staff interview with a different Candidate Consultant. It lasted about 4 hours. It went very well. He said he had no problem recommending us for service!

It was cool to learn that he knew our pastor from Grand Ave. Baptist Church in South San Francisco very well. [everyone sing 'It's a small world, with me]. Seriously, we are about to find out how small this world is!

One more day!

Getting to know SKIP

We started this morning with a special worship service. It was the FMB/IMB 160 year anniversary celebration today. We heard a neat chronological dialogue about the board.

We had pictures taken after spending some time in the library again.

We went to a Thai place for lunch with another candidate couple (good choice Annette). It was Susie's first Thai meal. I had it as spicy as I could get it.

We had our interview with the the South American Regional Director of Missions at 2pm. The spices had set in, so I can't tell you if I was nervous. Actually, it could not have gone more smoothly. I guess you aren't surprised since all of you have faithfully backed us with your prayers.

We had an "Are you mentally unstable" seminar tonight. No question there, I'm certifiable. HA! It was actually a pretty good session that made you think about your decision from different angles.

We ended the night playing the card game Phase 10 with some of our new friends. At the far end, you'll see our new friend SKIP. HA! He acquired that name after skipping me over and over!

Skip Phase 10

Actually the only reason we took this picture is so that I could see others cards.

We had a pleasant surprise when we returned to the room. We had some great words of encouragement from our favorite youth back at Parkview Baptist. You guys ROCK! We missed being at the VIEW tonight.

Let's get Physical(s)

We got up this morning at 4am. I went jogging. It was freezing. There was ice on the car windows. We got to the doctor's office for 6am and were there for 3 hours. Our physicals are over, now.

The first thing we did was meet Annette (family friend from Baton Rouge that works here). We also had lunch with her.

We spent the rest of the day in the library. They had a desk set up for us with books, videos, newsletters, (you name it) about Peru. We learned a lot about our primary people group that we'll be reaching.

Tonight was a dinner with all the candidates and consultants. There are 19 couples and two single candidates here this week. We met the other couple that are heading to Peru today.

Conference week has begun

We arrived safely in Richmond today. We followed another couple from Pasadena, CA all the way through IAH. We even talked with them at the Chili's in the terminal, but had no idea that they were bound for the same place as us.

There is one other couple bound for Peru here this week. We will meet them tomorrow.
