My World View

I've chosen to create a video. One that will show the steps we have taken along the way to get us to the foreign mission field. I've set it to a song called "My World View". Don't even ask who sings it...you know already.

I have been compiling, and editiing various video clips from the past 4 months for the project. There was one particular clip that I had not viewed until last night. I've now watched it twice. Neither time without shedding tears. It was a monalogue by Susie of how she was feeling the very last day that she was in our home. It has given me strength and courage, beyond what I even recognized that I needed. Very few clips from it will end up in the video, but every word will remain a vivid picture in my heart. Thank you Susie for such a wonderful testimony.

Traveling Grace

Hey Everyone,
As I wrote previously, the kids and I are on a little trip to visit my family in North Louisiana and in southern Arkansas. With our mission trip to Houston and this trip, I am feeling pretty worn out. Tomorrow, we will head to Nashville, Arkansas to visit with my dad for a few days. Please pray that my energy level increases and that I stay alert and safe during my drive. (It is a pretty uneventful drive) I will have a special treat though, a dear friend of mine, Karen has just moved to my dad's town, so I will be able to visit with her also. YEAHHH!
Please remember Arnold in your prayers ....he has been gone since the 11th and has been working from sun- up to way into the double digits of the night. Lord bring us together soon!
Thanks for your prayers for us. We need them!
Love ya'll all tons! God Bless you all!

Just Desserts!

hey guys! Well, as many of you know, my mom, my dad, and I were doing a fast as an offering to God for this unique opportunity He has placed in our lives and to help us be stronger in prayer. My dad gave up desserts while my mom and I gave up desserts and caffeine. Let me tell you, it was not an easy task! Expecially when I went on my youth trip last week! On the 18th, a woman came over and brought brownies! Now, I was set to eat after we got the call from the board of trustees! Well, after we heard "the news", not only did I call everyone that I could think of but, I ate my brownie! BUT.....I didn't eat just one, I scarfed down 3! I know, I know, that's alot of brownies, but it had been a month since I had any desserts so you can't blame me!Well, I'm very excited! love you all!-alisha-***

Home School

Alisha, Ben, and Patrick are now official home schoolers. With moving to Richmond for 6 weeks, we had no other choice to keep Alisha's high school credits valid for the fall semester. Be praying for us (Susie especially) as we start this on August 15th.

Vamos a Peru

I am speechless. The title says it all. The board met and unanimously voted for our becoming IMB career missionaries to Peru!

Big Day Coming

Tomorrow is the BIG day. Our candidate consultant presents our information to the Board for them to confirm our appointment to serve in Peru.

I dreamed of it differently. As it is, I am in a Coal Gasification plant in nowhere North Dakota and Susie will be in our temporary home with the kids. Pray for us in that we are longing to be together to share this moment, but cannot be.

Look for the big post tomorrow!

Beulah Land, Sweet Beulah Land

Well, I made it safely to Beulah, ND today. I'll be here for 1 to 3 weeks. This might be Beulah, but it's no promised land...and I'm definitely not longing for this place. The place I am longing for is Peru. It seems to take my thoughts and prayers captive all throughout the day.

It's highly likely that Susie and I will be separated on July 19th. I wish I could be with her when we ge our call from our Candidate Consultant.

Feeling a little older

Well, I made 37 today. Susie and the older two kids left for Houston to do VBS in an inner city neighborhood. Patrick and I went to see 'The Fantasic 4' and then ate at Chili's.

Sold to the man in the ....

Well, it's done. So much running here, doing that, packing this, unpacking that. Susie said it best the other day when we unpacked at the missions home and said, " I am breathing again". Today we took a deep breath and let go of our home of 9+ years. Last week was really hard walking around in the emptiness. Today was much easier (the check for our equity helped!). Alan and Rebecca Lusk are the proud new owners of our "gingerbread house".
