Gallon Challenge

Yep, it was everything I thought it would be. I got the whole gallon down in under an hour. Then like clockwork, it came back up. Don't worry, I won't post too ugly a picture (but if you want one, just ask).

Mercy Christmas

Sunday afternoon I was invited to go to a Mercy Me and a Stephen Curtis Chapman Christmas concert. It was a two hour drive to the concert but we had alot of fun and interesting conversations. We ate at McDonalds and then went to the concert. They played alot of Christmas songs that we all sang and clapped to. After the concert, we went backstage to meet and greet the bands. We took lots of pics. The ride home was long, but enjoyable. We got home at 1:30am, so I'm a little tired. (That is Steven Curtis Chapman in the picture next to me!)

I feel like Chicken Tonight

The pictures say it all. Both Ben and I killed and dressed a chicken today.

Sweet Seventeen

Okay, it's a dorky title, but today is Susie and my 17th Wedding anniversary.

Casa Blanca

Of course, this would be the name of the Peruvian restaurant we ate at, being we were in DC for the day. I ordered a Tripe Stew, after 40 minutes, the waiter returned to tell me they were out. I wasn't exactly sure what tripe was and wasn't online last night so I added the word to Microsoft Word to look for synonyms...it came up wih "garbage". I am glad they were out. This is our Promo Shot for the new Inca Cola Commercials we will be doing in Peru.

We bought one of everything pretty much. It ended up costing $80. When it came time to pay, the guy said they didn't take credit cards. I had told Susie to bring $50 with us. I am blessed to have a wife who doesn't listen to me. She brought $90!

100 Man March

We are going to Washington DC today as a group. The goal is to gather culturally relevant information for all the countries we as a group will be going to. We will be visiting the Peruvian Consulate today. We are also eating at a Peruvian restaurant. There are several to choose from. One is called "Crunchy and Juicy" - sounds a little scary to me! We will try to engage with South Americans (hopefully Peruvians). we are loaded with Spanish tracts. Pray that someone will be saved as a result of our conversations today.

Time Sure Flies!

I can not believe that we just completed our third week here. Only four weeks to go. That also means that Christmas is right around the corner. This weekend I will finish my ESL training and be certified to teach English as a second language and Arnold will hopefully be finishing his 2nd book for seminary. Alisha and Ben went on their 2nd field trip this past week to the international market. They brought back all kinds of goodies. Patrick will go this week to the market on his field trip. All of the kids are working hard on projects about their new countries. Alisha and Ben just completed a prayer card for their people group (Quechua Indians and the Amyara Indians). Patrick is working on a 3-D volcano (Like Mt. Misti in Arequippa). We are all keeping busy and I guess it is no wonder that time is just flying!
Next Friday, the day after Thanksgiving, the whole campus will head to Washington D.C. for a field trip. We will have to locate and engage a national from our new country. There are several other assignments we must complete. It should be an interesting day.
Love you all and hope you are all well. Drop us an email sometime....We would love to hear from you!
God Bless!

Kudo's to Parkview Baptist Youth Group!

Just a big "kudo's" to the Parkview Youth Group! I just had a parent/teacher conference with Alisha's teacher here at MLC. You would think that the teacher would have ranted and raved about what great parents Alisha had to have(ha!).....but no, several times she commented on what an impact Alisha's Youth Group had played in Alisha's spiritual growth and maturity. So thanks Robert for being the best youth minister and thanks to all you guys at Parkview. You have touched our lives in so many ways and we are so much better because of it! We love you all! We miss you tons!

Were you raised in a barn.

We don't live in a barn, but we are the closest Quad to the barn, which means we are the furtherest Quad from everything else. This is where I hope to do some chicken killlin' later. (Cuz I'm a chicken hawk and I like chickens!)

I took some pictures of the boys on the barnyard fence.

Right now I am recovering from a rough capture the flag game last night. It's a little different playing with college kids. It was a fun evening last night.

Praise God for Fridays!

Boy am I pooped! We have been so busy around here. It has been an amazing week of classes and just digging into God's word. What a wonderful experience and a special time to prepare ourselves for the journey ahead. It turned cold overnight and so we are back to wearing our jackets....brrrr. It makes for a nice brisk walk to breakfast in the mornings.
I have to take the boys into Richmond tomorrow for a haircut and have them back here by 10 for Tae kwon doe classes (that probably isn't how to spell it) Right now, Arnold and the kids are outside playing capture the flag with about 30 other people.....its too cold for me and too dark. They are all having a blast!
Love ya'll all so much. Continue to pray for us that we get all of our assignments due and that we continue to prioritize our time so we will spend intimate time with the Father even if that requires going to bed late or getting up early.
I hope you all had a great week! I am so glad God made Friday's!
Love you!

Ready.....Aim....Shots!

Well, you guessed it, today was our first round of shots! We had a short day of classes, picked up the kids at 12:30 and had to go back to our Quad (house) to await the dreaded phone call that came around 3:45. On our way to the medical building Patrick decided that he would rather not go, so a little force was needed to move him in the direction of the medical building. We will have 3 clinics total in which our shots are divided among. I had forgotten to see how many shots we would get today, so the kids were excited (I guess not the most appropriate word to use) maybe relieved to hear that they would only get 2 today.....Arnold had to get 3 and I had to get 4!!!! Ouch! Everyone did fine and they had face painting, candy, cute Band-Aids and bubbles after.
The past two days we have been in a Spiritual Warfare class taught by Jerry Rankin. It has been phenomenal! Pray for all of our families here as we prepare to face the enemy head on!!!
God bless you all and we miss you all so much!

School Starts!

Hey Everyone!
Today was the first day of school for us and the kids. Alisha and Ben are both in the same class with 10 other kids and Patrick is right across the hall with 12 kids in his class. They all seemed to have a great day. Their class day is from 8:45 until 3:15. We were able to talk with their teachers and they are all going to be able to complete their homeschool curriculum for this semester. That is a huge relief because we were afraid that they would have to begin their homeschool day at 3:45. Praise God!
Arnold and I had a light day but we were able to get a lot accomplished. I wrote my very first book report in 19 years!!!! Good thing it won't be graded....I think!!!!
Please lift Arnold up in your prayers. We have a very hectic schedule here but tomorrow he begins a seminary class. Pray that he learns a lot and that he can stay focused. Pray for the family to be patient and supportive as he has to study and prepare.
(One quick shout out to one of my new best friends.....she knows who she is!)
Love you all and miss you madly!
Susie
