Crawfish are endangered!

Well, maybe not in Louisiana, but in Peru, there is a limit to crawfish harvest (river shrimp, as they are called).

If you can, read on:

The Havards sent some money for us for Christmas. The following is what Patrick and Susie decided to do with theirs. Thanks you guys. That was so much fun for them.

Is your church a septic tank?

When we were leading the church leadership training the other week, our boss said:

no permiten que la igesia sea un silo.

which means don't let the church be a storehouse, or silo. He wanted to convey that we are to take what we learn and share it, spread it, not keep it for ourselves.

Well....in Peru, Silo has another meaning. It is a septic tank.

The participants were a little confused. Later we all laughed.

Ginger

One of the things I really don't like about Peruvian culture is their style of Chinese food. That actually call it Chifa, which is not Spanish. It's supposed to be Chinese for "food". I don't know in what dialect or if there is even any truth to it. I just know that Peruvian Chinese food has way to much ginger for my liking.

In fact, the only way I like ginger is the in Gingerbread. Last night we had just that...but we couldn't eat it! We built a house with it, instead. It is a wonderful family tradition that we try to keep up. Thanks to an ingenious Peruvian maid who learned of the Gringo passion to play with their food, we had a ready made kit delivered to our door. Here are the results:

What's the hurry?

A quote that really stuck out of the book I'm reading right how is

"Waiting is one of God’s preferred methods of preparing special people for special projects."

Most of you know that Susie and I felt called as missionaries when we were 17 and 18. IT was not the right time to do so. In fact it was 17 years later that God tapped us on the shoulder and said, "Now is the time, GO."

I want to encourage you to wait on God's timing. I'm not saying to use waiting as an excuse for not acting. If God is telling you "Now is the time, GO" you'd better act on it and quickly, but don't be afraid to wait on the Lord. His timing will prove to be much better than yours.
